Abstract

939,032. Thread confining means. W. REINERS. Oct. 23, 1959 [Nov. 8, 1958; Jan. 24, 1959], No. 35980/59. Addition to 865,187. Class 120 (2). A device confining thread drawn from a supply cop is formed of relatively adjustable parts to provide variable cross-sectional areas to the device for operation with cops of differing mean diameters. One construction has side walls in the form of plane vanes 11, 12, 13, 14, Fig. 7, to which are fixed levers interconnected by rods 19 in such manner that movement of one lever to alter the crosssectional area contained by the vanes will result in equal angular movement of all vanes. Instead of the vanes, interdigitating comb-like members may be employed. Other forms have comb-like members mounted in pairs either for equal linear movement relative to a plane passing through a supply cop, as members 31, 32, 41, 42 carried on arms 34, 44 adjusted by a screw having opposed threads 35, 45, Fig. 11, or for arcuate movement, as members 51, 52, 53, 54 carried on pivoted arms 55, 56, Fig. 13, Several devices may be linked together for simultaneous adjustment. Triangular, pentagonal, or hexagonal cross-sectional shapes may be employed for the device.
