Abstract

671,266. Winding yarn. COMPTOIR DES TEXTILES ARTIFICIELS, SOC. AR.L. April 5, 1950 [April 5, 1949], No. 8632/50. Class 120(ii) In a rayon &c. winding machine, the yarn is moved along each bobbin by a reciprocating guide and the variations in tension in the yarns due to the movement of the guide are compensated by apparatus comprising a face cam reciprocated with the yarn guide and operating to raise and lower a first guide placed in front of the winding guide, the arrangement being such that changes in the length of the yarn due to the reciprocation of the winding guide are substantially counteracted by the rising and falling of the first guide. Threads 9 from the drying cylinder 6 are led over guides 8 to guides 10 carried by a bar 11 reciprocated vertically by pillars 29 through rollers 30 which are moved up and down by face cams 28 on reciprocating traverse bars 13 carrying the traverse guides 12. Each wind-on bobbin 14 is driven by contact with a drum and is pressed thereagainst by a frame weighted at 24. A handle 19 enables the frame to be moved for doffing. At this time, the thread 9 is broken and an eccentrically-pivoted roller 25 is moved into contact with a driven roller 26 to feed the thread into proximity with a suction nozzle 32 so that the advancing end may be drawn into a conduit 31, until a new bobbin 14 has been positioned. For use in starting up, a bobbin 34 is provided upon which a bundle of threads 35 is started to be wound, whereafter the threads are broken successively and passed through the guides 10, 12 and started up on the separate bobbins 14.
