Abstract
1,150,568. Spinning yarns. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 10 Aug., 1966 [12 Aug., 1965], No. 35842/66. Headings DID, D1F and D1W. A core-spun yarn comprises a cover yarn of staple e.g. acrylic, fibres wrapped around a core yarn which may be of staple fibres or continuous filaments and may be textured so as to possess "stretch" properties or be of elastic material e.g. segmented polyurethane. In the operation of the apparatus shown, slubbing or condenser roving 2 is drafted between back and front rollers 5 and 17 and fed through a false-twist tube 6 with frictional engagement by the tips 7 thereof. A core yarn 12 is guided, under tension and perhaps stretched, to pass (axially or otherwise) straight through the tube 6 without engagement thereby.. The components 2 and 12 are combined by the action off lower jaws 16 of tube 6 prior to entering the front rollers and, on leaving the latter, are twisted by a ring-twister 20 to produce the core-spun yarn taken up on bobbin 21. The guide, as at 15, or a composite guide, Fig. 2 (not shown) serving a plurality of spinning stations on a machine, comprises a hole 23 with a back slot providing access for yarn being threaded-up and may be fixed or move in correspondence with a false-twist tube which is traversed to distribute the wear on the draft rollers.
