Abstract

An elastic voluminous yarn is produced by wrapping a staple fibre roving around a crimped, mono- or multifilament yarn, and in the same operation plying the resulting strand with another mono- or multi-filament yarn which may also be wrapped by a roving. As described the filaments are fed to the last rollers of a drafting frame to be combined with the roving or rovings, the roving or rovings being combined with the filaments before the filaments are combined together, the composite yarn being wound on a ring spinning spindle. The filaments may be false-twist, edge, gear, or stuffer box crimped, and be a polyamide, vinyl polymer or copolymer, polyester, or a polyolefin. The staple fibers may be wool, cotton, or artificial or synthetic fibres.
