Winding-machines.-In winding cops, cheeses, and the like g, the yarn is led from a tension device j across the edge of a revolving plate a, by means of which it is traversed on the yarn package g. The spindle f, which carries the cop or the like g, is spring pressed against the concave surface i of a guide-plate i<1>, and as the cop is wound is moved away therefrom. The yarn passes over the edge of the guide-plate i<1> and is traversed to and fro upon it in a straight line. By regulating the speed ratio between the plate a and the spindle f, and by using a cam plate consisting of more than one wing, various types of yarn packages may be wound.
