The yarn F passes from the bobbin C over a pulley e<1> on pivoted spring-controlled arm E to the roll A, which is carried in arms a. When the yarn F breaks, the lever E falls, and an abutment e<3> releases a pivoted catch e<4>, e<6> and allows a weighted lever e<5> to fall. This lever carries a tooth e<10> adapted, when the lever falls, to engage ratchet teeth e<8> on a rod e<15> sus. pended from the arm a. This rod is normally pressed by a spring e<9> against a snug e<7> on the lever e'. When the roll A attains the desired size, it engages an adjustable stud e<12> and operates the catch e<4>, e<6>. The bobbin C is mounted on a spindle pivoted at c<1> and is engaged by a tension plate D as described in Specification 138,969. The spring-controlled lever E acts to tension the yarn.
