Abstract

188,710. Wildt & Co., Ltd., and Wildt, E. July 11, 1921. Winding-machines; stop-motions.-Relates to machines for winding yarns, threads, and the like, especially fine yarns such as silk and artificial silk, of the vertical spindle type and wherein the guide is moved upwards on a screwed rod, mounted on a reciprocating carrier bar and rotated mechanically. A vertically-disposed ratchet wheel 5 is geared with the screwed rod and is operated as the bar rises and falls by a pawl 6 which is displaced, so as to be inoperative when the yarn slackens or breaks, by a rod 18 carried on a spring-controlled arm 16. The yarn guide 11 is secured to the end of an arm 12, which engages with a nut 22 on the rod 4 and is splined to a rod 13 to which the arm 16 is secured, so that the tension of the intact yarn holds the guide close to the bobbin and the rod 18 clear of the pawl. The pawl is also moved so as to be inoperative when the yarn is unduly tensioned by means of a stop 35 on the lever 30 of the apparatus described in Specification 28480/13, which disconnects the spindle-driving discs. The screwed rod 4 is carried on a bracket which is pivoted on the reciprocating bar 1 and is engaged by a cam 29 so that the guide travels in a path parallel to the cone of the cop as described in Specification 181,155.
