Winding-machines.-In a winding-machine, in which a thread-laying drum is interposed between the thread supply and the bobbins, the drum b, which drives the bobbins, is provided with adjustable spring-pins f, f<1>, which alternately engage the thread as it passes around the circumference of the drum from a reciprocating thread guide g so that it runs in a zig-zag path therearound and, when released from the pins as they are depressed by contact with the bobbins, is wound on the bobbin in cross-wound form. A lever operated by a feeler in contact with the bobbin may be provided to cause the pins to approach each other during the winding to form bobbins with conical ends, and inclined ribs may be used in place of pins.
