Abstract

164,913. Thornton, A. April 13, 1920. Winding-machines.-In machines for making yarn or thread sample shade cards or sheets of the kind wherein the threads 6 are wound on a foundation, which is wrapped round a cylinder 2 and the ends secured in a groove by a bar 5, the coils of thread being fixed by gumming strips of paper across the foundation and subsequently cut at a point near to the bar, the operating handle 10 is connected with the shaft of the cylinder by a gear train 12, 13 so that the cylinder is started gradually, and the cones which transmit motion to the screw that traverses the thread guides are provided with grooves or with spaced swellings to prevent the driving-cord from slipping from its adjusted position and so producing irregular spacing of the threads.
