671,008. Knitting-machines. BRAUND, Ltd., G., HALLAM, R. W., BLACKBURN & SONS, Ltd., G., and START, H. W. Jan. 23, 1950 [Dec. 22, 1948], No. 33001/48. Class 74 (ii). To enable two thread guides A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> operating on the needles of two separate halves of a division of a straight-bar machine to occupy a position of constant lead over the slur cock H when feeding a yarn to the needles, a catch K is provided associated with each end stop for each carrier rod A, B which retains the rod immovable until the slur cock arrives at a position where the carrier is considered to have the desired lead, whereupon the catch K is released and the carrier is traversed along the needles. The catch K which is in the form of a pivoted arm is provided with a roller N which is engaged by a cam 7 on the slur cock tie-bar J so positioned as to release the catch K at the desired time.
