Abstract
848,098. Knitting-machines. MARKERT, W., and STEUDTEN, W. May 22, 1957 [June 11, 1956], No. 16226/57. Class 74 (2). Tension is relieved in the yarn before it is fed to the needles of a straight-bar machine by withdrawing the amount required for one course from its supply by extending the yarn into a series of loops. This is achieved by a series of pins R1, R2, &c., alternately movable in opposite directions in slots in two plates P1, P2 between which the yarn passes. After the yarn has been extended by moving the pins through a series of rods Z1, Z2, &c., levers H1, H2, &c., and cams E1, E2, &c., the pins return to their initial position leaving the yarn free between the plates and such that on the next movement of the carrier the yarn is delivered free of tension as the loops are taken up.
