Abstract
665,249. Knitting-machines. STAFF, A. S. Aug. 11, 1949 [Aug. 12, 1948], No. 20939/49. Class 74 (ii). To enable a large number of thread guides 36 feeding laid-in threads to be used in a straightbar warp knitting-machine without unduly increasing the distance between the eyes of the outermost guides 25, 36, thereby minimizing the rocking movement of the various rows of guides 25, 28, 36 and also reducing any tendency for yarns from the various guides to be caught by the needles, the thread-guides feeding the laid-in threads are secured to strips 34 mounted in radial slots 31 of arcuate blocks 30 such that the eyes 37 of the guides 36 are in alignment. Each strip 34 is individually moved by pattern mechanism to shog the thread guides 36 secured thereto relative to the needles. As described, ten strips 34 are mounted in the block 30 and the thread guides are spaced four needles apart so that the thread guides on each strip are spaced forty needles apart. The extent of shogging each thread guide is dependent on the relative movement of the adjacent guides. The arcuate block is attached to the usual rocker shaft 11 for actuating the guides.
