Abstract

1,144,508. Knitting machines. CLUTSOM & KEMP Ltd. 5 Dec., 1967 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 55954/66. Heading D1C. The needle bar 15 of a raschel machine is connected to an eccentric 20 which imparts a compound transverse movement to the needles causing their hooks to follow an elliptical path. The yarn guides 10 are confined in their movement to a shogging motion longitudinally of the line of needles and are actuated by a cam RC1 engaging a follower R1 on the end of a rod 12 connected to the upper end of the guide bar 7. Consequently the guide bars -are shogged to effect the overlap or underlap movements of the guide and their yarns and the compound movement of the needles causes them to move across the path of the yarns to effect what is normally the lapping movement and to knit.
