Abstract
694,860. Knitting-machines. MELLOR, BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. March 19, 1951 [May 9, 1950], No. 11543/50. Class 74 (ii). A yarn feeding device for a knitting-machine comprises a tapered driven feedwheel or drum 1 around which the yarn is guided by pivoted guides 14, 18 which in the event of the yarn becoming increasingly tensioned move towards each other so as to increase the length of yarn in contact with the driven drum whereby the rate of feeding of the yarn is increased and the tension of the yarn maintained substantially constant. A stop 17 is provided for the guide 14 and the rear end of the guide 18 is biased by a weight 21 which in the event of yarn failure or undue slackness of the yarn engages a contact 22 of an electrical circuit of. a stop motion controlling the machine. The device is adapted to be used in a cylinder and dial machine when a number of devices are operated from the dial drive.
