Abstract

767,535. Knitting machines. STIBBE & CO., Ltd., G. May 25, 1955 [June 18, 1954], No. 17939/54. Class 74 (2). A yarn - feeding mechanism has the yarn feeding roller 14 extended at its smallest end to provide a parallel sided smooth surfaced portion 14b which allows slip to occur between the yarn and roller. With this arrangement a number of mechanisms are intended to be used on a multifeeder machine in which each roller is driven at substantially the same constant speed. To allow for variations in requirements at each feeder, due to only some of the needles knitting at one feeder compared with the feeder at which all of the needles knit, the yarn tensioning arm 28 is adjusted and a stop member 34 is lowered to restrict the movement of the arm of the mechanisms at the feeders requiring a smaller rate of feed of yarn, such that the guides 26, 27 can only vary the position of the yarn over the portion 14b and a part of the tapered portion at the small end of the roller 14. A feeler is provided in association with the mechanism and in the event of yarn abnormalities the feeler is released to actuate a stop motion.
