Abstract

1,246,625. Knitting-machines. HOSIERY & ALLIED TRADES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 14 Nov., 1968 [26 Aug., 1967], No. 39359/67. Heading D1C. A positive yarn feed for a circular knitting machine comprises two pairs of closable nip rollers between which the yarn is directed so that it may be selectively fed at two different rates. Each of two drive rollers 12, 13 cooperate with two pressure rollers 17, 17'; 20, 21' respectively so that the device feeds two yarns. Each pressure roller is carried by an arm, pairs of which 18, 18'; 21, 21' associated with each driven roller are mounted on pivots 6, 11 and spring urged together. Yarn guides associated with the pressure rollers are also carried by the arms. Cams 30, 30' are mounted between the arms and are turned by striking arms 29, 29' to force the arms apart. This position is maintained by arrangement of pins 28, 28' in catches 27, 27'. When one pair of arms, e.g. 21 21' are forced apart the others are allowed to spring together by releasing the catch. The arrangement may be utilized with the embodiments of figures 1 to 4 of Specification 1,027,912 so that the feed rates of two, or two pairs, of yarns fed at different rates may be altered.
