861,880. Knitting-machines. HOSIERY & ALLIED TRADES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Aug. 2, 1957 [May 7, 1956], No. 29636/60. Divided out of 861,879. Class 74 (2). A circular machine has a device 3 for positively feeding a textile yarn at a predetermined and fixed rate in relation to the machine speed to the needles and a sensing device 9 acting on the yarn between the positive feeding device and the needles and which controls a reversible electric motor 12 to adjust the stitch cam 2, whereby the tension in the yarn is maintained substantially constant. The positive feeding device 3 may have cylindrical rollers or may have conical rollers whereby the stitch graduation cam 7 can adjust the position of the yarn passing between the rollers with subsequent variation of the quality of the fabric.
