Abstract
711,690. Knitting machines. TEXTILE MACHINE WORKS. Nov. 17. 1952 [Nov. 16, 1951], No. 28979/52. Class 74 (2) A yarn carrier for a straight - bar knitting - machine comprises a sheet steel finger, corrugated for rigidity, having an inclined tip 3. A guide tube 13, through which the yarn is fed to the needles, is located on a face of the tip, being held in a mounting which permits the tube to swing a side in either direction across the face of the tip if the tube meets with an obstruction during a traverse of the finger. The tube mounting comprises a dome 8 fitting in an orifice in the tip with a flange resting against the under face of the tip. The guide tube extends through a skirt of the dome 8 and is held in place by a collar 14 which bears against the dome and a protuberance 17 formed in the tip, the tube being held in a central position by protuberances 15. The tube may be removed by swinging it into a position. B where the collar 14 is free of the protuberance 17 so that the tube may be pushed upwardly out of the mounting.
