Abstract

930,898. Knitting - machines. SINGER - FIDELITY. July 4, 1961 [July 5, 1960], No. 24060/61. Class 74 (2). A circular knitting-machine comprises a plurality of feed fingers 11 movable, so as to feed yarn to a rotary circle of needles 12, to an operative position 11a supported in a recess 37 of a non-ceramic part 22 of a throatplate 21 mounted in an opening 15 in a yarn guide ring 10, the part 22 having a flat surface 34 to which is cemented a flat surface 32 of a ceramic tip 23 having a corresponding recess 36 whose circumferential length is at least as great as that of recess 37. As shown, a liner 13 surrounding needles 12 has a gap 14 registering with opening 15 and closable by mechanism 16, 17 when fingers 11 are inoperative. Plate 21 is adjustably secured to ring 10 by fasteners 25 which pass through elongated apertures in pedestals 38, 39 in portion 22 and are held by locking means. As shown, surfaces 32 and 34 are optically flat.
