Abstract

910,558. Knitting-machines. COTTON Ltd., WILLIAM. Feb. 10, 1959 [Feb. 11, 1958], No. 4360/58. Class 74 (2). Yarn deflecting and severing mechanism is provided at each end of each division of a straight-bar machine and serves to deflect the yarn of an outgoing carrier away from the needles and to sever the yarn extending between the fabric and the usual end clamp after its carrier has been brought into operation. The mechanism comprises a pivoted blade 11 actuated at required times from a pattern device so that its outer edge near the tip 11d engages and deflects the yarn of an outgoing carrier, whilst its inner edge co-operates with that of a fixed blade 12 to sever the yarn of an incoming carrier thereby releasing it from its end clamp.
