To assist the removal of yarn from its package and to prevent the formation of snarls, particularly in the case of a crimp yarn, the yarn in its passage from the package A to a knitting- machine is drawn outwardly over the edge of a freely-rotatable disc F mounted concentrically on the upper end of the package. It then passes through a guide Q disposed centrally over the disc.
