Abstract

867,340. Knitting machines. COURTAULDS Ltd. Dec. 11, 1959 [Dec. 12, 1958], No. 40147/58. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group IX] In a process for withdrawing a lively twisted yarn from a yarn package 3, the package is provided with a surround of a pleated material which provides a number of line contacts 2 with the package so that the pressure of such line contacts prevents the yarn overrunning while allowing withdrawal of the yarn to proceed unimpeded. The surround may be made of pleated nylon &c. fabric, paper or plastic. Several examples are given of the types of woven fabric which may be used and the dimensions of the pleated constructions. Specification 640,967 is referred to.
