Abstract

640,967. Unwinding yarn packages. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and WHOLTON, F. Feb. 5, 1948, No. 3391. [Class 120(ii)] [Also in Group VIII] Snarling of twisted (e.g. crepe) yarn during withdrawal from a yarn package 3 or 16, supported on a horizontal or slightly inclined rod 5 or 18, is prevented by a fabric 12 or 20 (preferably a warp knitted fabric) so suspended independently of the package that its surface engages and presses on part of the outer area thereof. The package (particularly when the yarn is conditioned) may be enclosed by a cylindrical casing 19, through slots 21, 22, 23 in which the fabric is passed. The Provisional Specification states that the casing is transparent and that the fabric may be hung from a bar, rotatable to adjust the length of fabric suspended. Specification 548,667 is referred to.
