844,186. Knitting-machines. TURFA A.G. Oct. 1, 1957 [Oct. 6, 1956], No. 30706/57. Class 74 (2). The front edge of the needle trick walls of a flat-bed machine are extended to form downwardly-facing hooks 10b which serve as a castoff comb for the fabric as it is produced on the latch needles of the machine. Withdrawal of the needles during the stitch-forming operation causes the yarn to be drawn downwardly around the curved faces 10 of the hooks until it passes into the hooks 10b. After the previous course loops have been cast off the needles are advanced and the yarn is held in the hooks. The hooks 10b may be resiliently arranged so that when the yarn slides over the hook it will yield slightly and spring back in position when the yarn enters the hook.
