[Class 74 (ii)] When inserting a weft thread in a plain knitted fabric on a flat knitting machine the weft is brought into such a position between the knocking-over comb and the sinkers that in the upward motion of the needle frame some needles pass in front of and some behind the weft thread, or some of the needles may be deflected for the same purpose. As shown, the weft thread 5 laid on the comb 8 is deflected by the comb-teeth and pins 7 on the pivot or other bar 6.
