456,627. Knitting - machines. WIRTH, H., DONNER, (nÚe WIRTH), D., LOSCHNER, (nÚe WIRTH), J., and WIRTH, H., Hartmannsdorf, near Chemnitz, Germany. Feb. 22, 1936, No. 5397. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1935. [Class 74 (ii)] Warp-machines ; sinkers.-A machine for knitting single-faced fabric is provided with an attachment 41 whereby it may be used for the production of double-faced fabric. The attachment comprises levers 12 carrying a needle bar 14 and needles. The levers 12 are operated by cams on a shaft 27 and carry a shaft 22 on which is mounted the presser bar 20 additionally operated by a cam 28. The knocking over comb 45 is not used during the knitting of plain fabric, and during the knitting of double-faced fabric the ordinary sinker bar &c. are replaced by a dipping comb 53. The teeth of the knocking over sinkers 18 used when making doublefaced fabrics are slotted near the end, and a bar 56 threaded through the slots. The needles are therefore completely surrounded by the sinkers.
