471,657. Knitting-machines. WIRTH, (nÚe RICHTER), E. H., DONNER, (nÚe WIRTH), H. D., LOSCHNER, (nÚe WIRTH), J. M., and WIRTH, E. H. Feb. 2, 1937, No. 3113. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1936. [Class 74 (ii)] A presser arrangement for a warp knitting- machine comprises a plain presser 3 and a pattern presser 9 mounted on the same support 1 in which a rotatable shaft 6 and a longitudinally-movable shaft 13 are mounted, the shaft 6 carrying a forked member 10 and a member 17 linked to the pressers and the shaft 13 carrying a double cone 14 engaging rollers 11, 12 mounted in the fork 10 so that the pressers are moved positively in opposite directions into and out of the working position. As shown, the pressers are arranged at an inclination to one another so that they press at the same point of the needle 15 and the pattern presser 9 slides on a Hat on the plain presser 3. The pressers are respectively carried by members 4, 8 linked to eyes 5, 7 arranged approximately diametrically opposite one another on the member 17. When working with the plain presser, the roller 11 runs on a part of the cone 14 of largest diameter and all other parts carried by the support 1 are moved towards the needles to press them, the roller 12 engaging the smallest diameter of the cone and the pattern presser consequently not operating on the needles. When tuck patterning is to be performed, the shaft 13 is moved so that the roller 12 cooperates with a part of the cone of largest diameter and the roller 11 with the smaller diameter of the cone so that the fork 10 is rocked, the plain presser retracted and the pattern presser advanced and when the support 1 is moved towards the needles only those needles corresponding to the pattern presser are pressed.
