a claims. (or. ca -esl T'he present invention relates to an alternately acting presser device for warp knitting machines. As is well known, in warp knitting machines provided with a plain presser and a pattern presser the plain presser is slidably arranged with regard to the pattern presser in such a manner, that the plain presser, when shifted slightly beyond the pattern presser, acts upon all the frame needles, whereas, if the plain presser is withdrawn, such bearded needles onlyare pressedl To obtain the desired end, thepattern presser as well as the plain presser are, according to the invention, arranged to be positively rendered operative and inoperative. The two pressers are provided at one Aand the same holder and may be shifted in opposite directions. 'ILhey are a'rranged lwith regard to each other under such :io' an angle of inclination, that both of them have the same point of pressing at the bearded needle. In the accompanying drawing an alternately acting presser device according to the invention is shown by way of example.

The latter is slidably arranged upon4 the attened portion of the plain presser 3. Fixed upon the shaft -6 is a fork IB 5 carrying at the end oi each prong a roller il and I2 respectively.
Below the shaft 6 another shaft i3 is journailed in the holder Il. shaft it may be reciprocated in any well known and suitable manl0 -ner ,and carries a double cone i4 shown in detail in Figs. 3 and 4. The rollers Il and I2 are adapted to run upon the peripheral surface of this double cone I4. The bolts screwed into the prongs of the fork I0 and carrying the rollers 15 II and I 2 are in the longitudinal direction of the shafts Ii and II separated from each other by s uch a distance that. as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the roller I2 engages thel portion of the double cone Il having the smallest diameter ii the roll- 20 er II runs upon the portionot 'the cone having ,the largest diameter and vice versa.
If. the plain presser is operating, the roller II runs upon the portion of the double cone I6 having4 the largest diameter and all members carried 25 by the holder I are moved in the usual manner tiiwards the bearded needles I5 to press the latter. The pattern presser 9 hereby participates in the movements of the plain presser without, however, coming to action. 30
If now tuck patterning is to be produced, the shaft I3 is shifted in its longitudinal direction in such a manner, that theroller II engages with the portion of the double cone Il having the f smallest diameter, whereas the roller I2 co- 35 operates with the portionof the double cone I4 having the largest diameter. Herebythe fork III carrying the rollers II and I2 is rocked. Due to the fork. Ill carrying the rollers being vilxed by e means of a screw I6" upon the shaft 6, the latter 40 also is rotated in the same direction, whereby the eyes 5 and 'I are rocked in such a 'manner'. that the plain presser 3 is withdrawn and simultaneously the pattern presser 9 is advanced.
The plain presser 3 is, during the movement of 45 the holder Iv towards the bearded needles I5, prevented from reaching the bearded needles so that those bearded needles I5 only dan be pressed which lie opposite the pattern presser l. In this manner tuck patterns are produced. If it' is desired to again operate with the plain* presser, it is only necessary to shift the shaft Il in the opposite direction, whereby the plainpresser I is automatically andl positively movedum? the PQSltlon ready for the bearded needles l5, whereas simultaneously the pattern presser 9 is withdrawn out of the range of the bearded needles.
The flattening of the plain presser 3 is so chosen as to serve as bearing for the pattern presser and on shifting of the pattern presser into the operative position to allow the latter to operate upon the same point of. the bearded needles as the plain presser. The shaft I3 may Ibeshiited in a manner similar to that employed in the shifting of the lapping machine.
What I claim is:
1. An alternately acting presser device for warp knitting machines, comprising a plain presser, a holder carrying said plain presser, a pattern presser also carried by said holden-a shiftable shaft journalled in said holder, a double cone xedupon said shiftable shaft, la second shaft` rotatably mounted` in said holder, a joint member fixed to' said rotatable shaft, a link connecting said joint member with said plain presser, a
second link connecting said joint member with said pattern presser, a fork fixed to said rotatable shaft, and a roller provided at each prong of said fork, said .rollers being adapted to cooperate with said double -cone. I
2. In a device as set forth in claim 1 in which eyes are mounted at diametrically opposite points on said joint member and are connected to said links connected to said plain presser and HERBERT VVIRTH.
