709,915. Knitting-machines. HOSEMASTER MACHINE CO., Ltd. Dec. 17, 1951 [Dec. 27. 1950], No. 31338/50. Class 74 (2) Auxiliary pressers 32. supported at the front of a straight-bar machine by linkage, are disposed in their inoperative position substantially above the needles, from which position they are moved by cams controlling the linkage, during the period when the relationship between the needles and the normal presser edge is modified, to a position between the needles and the normal presser edge so as to cause selected needles to press. The provision of the auxiliary pressers enables the hub tabs of a full-fashioned stocking to be knitted on two groups of end needles. Mechanism is also provided for moving the presser points progressively outwards and inwards during the knitting of the heel tabs.
