Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 74 (ii).] Rib knitted fabric is composed of weft or body yarn or yarns 11 and warp yarns 10 interknit therewith in some wales, in such wise that within a given length of knitting certain wales contain a larger number of interknit single stitches than do the non-warp-containing wales. The fabric is knitted on a machine containing two sets of independent needles, warp feeders 19 for one set and means for actuating both sets at one feed and selected needles of one set only at the other feed. Cylinder needles 17 may be selected by various means, e.g. a pattern wheel 26, Fig. 3 (not shown), and thus be raised to position for taking the warp yarns ; they are subsequently depressed by cam 25, Fig. 3 (not shown). At the succeeding feed cam mechanism of known type raises all needles to receive body yarn.
