Abstract

390,394. Knitting. POLLAK, J. E., 20, Holborn, London.-(Lieberknecht Ges., K. ; Oberlungwitz, Saxony, Germany.) Aug. 6, 1932, No. 22135. [Class 74 (ii).] Relates to a method of making openwork patterns on a straight-bar machine. For closing a large hole extending over two or more needles 2, 3, alter the loops have been transferred and a new course has been knitted, and at the moment the needles move upwardly, the thread 5 which is not formed into a loop is positively guided, without additional horizontal movement of the needle bar, in such a way that one or more of the needles which are without loops pass upwardly behind the thread. Instruments 7, which may be provided on the same bar as the transfer points 6, are preferably arranged so that upon the upward movement of the needles 1 .. 4 after the loop transfer, the thread lying between the sinkers is urged in front of the head of the needle 3 which has no loop. The instruments 7 preferably have sword-shaped lower ends as shown.
