Abstract
498,480. Knitting-machines. JACQUARD KNITTING MACHINE CO., Inc. July 7, 1937, No. 18867. Convention date, July 29, 1936. [Class 74 (ii)] Patterning members 10 for selecting the needles, sinkers or pressers are formed in two parts, each member having a shoe part 17, 18 engaging a needle &c. and engaged by a raising cam 24 and a body part 15, 16 which may carry the feeler member 21 which engages a slot 9 in the pattern drum 8. To offset the connections 25, 26 between the shoe and body of adjacent members 10, the shoe 17 of one member projects in an upward direction, and the shoe 18 of the adjacent member projects in a substantially horizontal direction. The body parts 15, 16 may be bent laterally, and the offsetting of the connections 25, 26 serves also to prevent interference between the bent portions of adjacent members 10. The shoe portions 32, 33, 34 may extend in three directions as shown in Fig. 3, so that the body parts are arranged at three levels. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the members 41, 42 having offset connections are pivotally supported upon a bar 49, and the slidably mounted members 40 engaging the pattern drum 8 are actuated by a cam 52 to rock the members 41, 42.
