745,893. Knitting-machines. DUBIED & CIE SOC. ANON., E. June 20, 1951 [March 9, 1951], No. 14684/51. Class 74 (2). In a two-bed machine cams on each cam plate, and lying in the zone between wing stitch cams 8, may be adjusted towards or away from the associated needle bed, so as to operate all needles (full line position of cams), to operate high-butt needles 1, 3 and miss low-butt needles 2, 4 (cams shown hatched), or to miss all needles (cams shown in dash line). The needles may have butts all of the same height, but made, by a Jacquard mechanism, to project from the beds to differing extents. Fig. 1 (part) shows the cam arrangement in one needle bed for rib knitting. Figs. 3 and 4 (part) likewise show the cam arrangement in one of the beds for knitting check patterns during right to left and left to right traverses respectively of the cam plates. Tuck patterns may be made. Fig. 5 shows the arrangement for transferring loops from low-butt needles 2 of the front bed to needles of the rear bed during a left to right traverse. The invention is stated to be applicable to a cylinder and dial machine
