992,473. Knitting-machines. EDOUARD DUBIET ET CIE. Sept. 23, 1963 [Sept. 26, 1962], No. 37369/63. Heading D1C. A circular knitting machine in which the cylinder 2 and dial 3 are internally connected and in which the tubular fabric 1 produced is cut longitudinally immediately after the formation of the loops comprises a stretching device having a plurality of pairs of inclined rotatable cylindrical carding rollers 9. The rotation of the rollers 9 produces a transverse tension in the fabric web and unrolls and guides the turned up edges of the fabric on both sides of the cut opening. The cylinder 2 and dial 3 are connected by a rigid member 7 and a blade 19 slits the fabric as it is produced. Take up rollers 4, 5 draw the fabric past the carding rollers 9 which are fastened to an adjustable frame 8.
