Abstract
722,607. Knitted fabrics. RUBINOW, J. E., and ROLLER, S. Nov. 21, 1951 [May 3, 1951], No. 27302/51. Class 74 (2). [Also in Group XI] A knitted fabric comprises two layers joined along spaced wales 20 and courses 18 by interknitting to form pockets 22. An additional yarn 16 is incorporated course-wise, running between the pocket walls and being interknit with the wales 20. The yarn 16 may be tensioned to produce puckering or this may be achieved by the yarn 16 being shrinkable to a greater degree than the yarns forming the pockets. The yarn 16 may be of wool and the pockets of cotton. Electric heating wires may be incorporated in the pockets. The fabric may be knitted on a cylinder and dial machine with an additional feeder or feeders for the yarn 16. The feeder described (not shown) comprises a tube through which the yarn runs, spring-biased towards the cylinder.
