Abstract

920,944. Knitting-machines. HOSIERY & ALLIED TRADES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. March 6, 1961 [Dec. 4, 1959], No. 41204/59. Class 74 (2). A circular knitting-machine has at each of a number of yarn feeding stations a positive yarn feeding device, primarily as described in Specification 861,879, so as to feed yarn without slip, each device being driven by mechanism which rotates relatively to it. For this purpose each device 3 is driven by a sprocket wheel 6. engaging a chain 7 mounted in a recess in a stationary ring 7b. The devices rotate with the cam boxes of the machine so that the engagement of the wheel 6 with chain 7 causes them to operate. Each device has two pairs of co-operating rollers 5, 9 of varying diameter, the yarn being guided between one or other of the two pairs at each feed. When it is desired to change from one pair to the other the yarn guide is adjusted and the rollers parted to enable the yarn to pass from one pair to the other.
