Feeding wheel for the positive supply of thread to a textile machine, which comprises a rotating wheel on its axis and adapted for its operation by a flexible belt; a vertical, smooth and substantially straight-sided guide finger arranged along the wheel and inclined with respect to the axis of rotation thereof, said guide finger receiving successive turns of thread passing around the wheel and the finger; a first and a second thread guide for advancing thread to and from the wheel, respectively; and means for moving at least the first thread guide axially to the wheel in order to selectively supply thread to the area of contact between the belt and the wheel or to the wheel above or below the belt.
