[Also in Division D1] A device for simultaneously measuring the speed and tension of a yarn, e.g. fed to a knitting machine, comprises three rollers 7, 8, 9 which are entrained by the yarn, one of which is the rotor 7 of a tachometer 2 and another 8 of which is displaceable thereby to indicate the tension. In one embodiment the other roller is displaceable against spring force away from the third. The tachometer rotor entrains a loop of yarn between the other two. In a second embodiment the displaceable roller comprises the tachometer rotor.
