Abstract

[Class 35] [Also in Group XXXIX] A magnet system comprises a permanent magnet 11 secured between cup-shaped polepieces 8, 9, one polepiece embracing the other so that a radial air gap is provided between them which may be adjacent to the central plane of the magnet. As shown in Fig. 3, the polepieces and magnet are secured by a screw 16. Alternatively the polepieces may be positioned solely by the magnetic forces or additionally by means of solder or an adhesive. A non-magnetic spacing ring 19, Fig. 7, may be used to position the polepieces and may be provided with additional positioning surfaces for the permanent magnet. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the permanent magnet is fitted into a recess 10 in a substantially flat central.polepiece and the assembly secured by a riveted member 12. The magnet system may be secured to a diaphragm supporting chassis 1 for a loud-speaker (see Group XXXIX), by a flange 13 on the riveted member 12 or by swaging or spinning a shouldered end 15 on the central polepiece.
