A permanent magnet structure for a loud-speaker has pole tip 31 and a permanent magnet 30 having isotropic and anisotropic characteristics respectively and an annular pole 20 supported by the structure and surrounding the pole tip 31 and part of the magnet 30 so as to provide an air gap for the voice coil 51.
