Abstract

664,812. Loud - speakers. KOLSTER BRANDES, Ltd. March 25, 1948 [March 31, 1947], No. 8666/47. Class 40 (iv). In a moving coil loud-speaker, the moving coil comprises a tube 1, Fig. 1, of conducting material such as copper or aluminium or a short-circuited loop 13, Fig. 2, and is energized by induction from the main winding 6. In Fig. 1, the magnetic circuit is in the form of the usual pot magnet with a central pole 3 which consists of a bunch of wires moulded into a solid rod by embedding in plastic material or otherwise. The pot 4 and disc 5 may be laminated. In Fig. 2, in which the diaphragm is pyramidal, the coil 13 being of square section and having two sides operating in parallel air gaps, the magnetic circuit is made up of E-shaped and I-shaped laminations 9, 10. When the main winding 6 is connected in the anode circuit of an amplifier the standing current of the valve provides the steady flux and the A.C. component induces current in the moving coil.
