Abstract
555,105. Electromagnets. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 22, 1942, No. 7006. Convention date. May 29, 1941. [Class 35] [Also, in Group XXXVII] An electromagnetic relay or other device has a member of permanent magnetic material such as vicalloy in its magnetic circuit so that when the operating winding of the relay is de-energized the armature remains attracted. It may later be released or restored by a demagnetizing current or by forcible separation or by opening an auxiliary gap in the magnetic current. The member may take the form of a disc 8 and be arranged between the main part 6 of the core and a pole 7 or it may be a rod 10 lying within a shell 12 of molybdenum permalloy and having a pole face 13 of " Permendur " (Registered Trade Mark).
