Abstract
860,439. Loud-speaker magnets. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 15, 1957 [April 18, 1956], No. 12228/57. Class 40 (4). [Also in Groups XXXV and XL (a)] A magnet arrangement shown in Fig. 1 as applied to a loud-speaker comprises a main permanent magnet 1, at least one magneticallysoft part 3 which transmits the magnetic flux to an operating region, i.e. an air-gap 4, and at least one auxiliary permanent magnet 5 of different material and field strength from those of the main magnet, the auxiliary magnet being spaced away from the operating region and being so polarized and positioned in a region of stray flux as to increase the flux produced at the operating region and reduce the stray flux produced outside the latter, at least one of the magnets being of annular cross-section and radially magnetized, and at least another of the magnets being cylindrical and axially magnetized. In another embodiment an axiallymagnetized main magnet disc 1, Fig. 3, is disposed between two magnetically-soft discs 9, 10 about which are two auxiliary magnets 12, 13. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 775,250.
