Abstract

818,731. Synchronous motors. CONSOLIDATED ELECTRONICS INDUSTRIES CORPORATION. Feb. 8, 1957, No. 4420/57. Class 35. In a synchronous motor with unequal numbers of shaded and unshaded polepieces, a group of shaded polepieces lies between groups of unshaded polepieces, there being at least two groups of each arranged in annular formation. Fig. 4 is a development of the polepiece arrangement about the internal periphery of the stator winding which is a bobbin type coil between flat rings 3, 5 carrying unshaded polepieces of opposite polarity 22, 23. A flat shading ring intervenes between plates 3, 5 and outer plates 7, 11 carrying the shaded polepieces 24, 25 which are twice as numerous as the unshaded polepieces. A cylindrical flange integral with plate 11 extends across the plate 7 to complete the magnetic circuit and form a stator enclosure. One shaded polepiece 25<SP>1</SP> of each polarity may completely bridge plates 7, 11. Two aligned grooves in the periphery of all the plates facilitate assembly and correct spacing of the various polepieces. The permanent magnet rotor may be as shown in Fig. 3 and be coaxially within the polepieces and winding. U.S.A. Specification 2,437,142 is referred to.
