Abstract
872,194. Permanent magnets. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 23, 1960 [March 26, 1959], No. 10305/60. Class 35. [Also in Group XXXIX] To reduce leakage flux in a permanent magnet assembly for a loud-speaker an auxiliary magnet 5, either annular or disc-shaped, and polarized oppositely to the main magnet 3, is arranged close to the end-plate 2 but separated from it by an air gap 6. Its effect may be increased by the addition of a ferromagnetic housing 7. The auxiliary magnet and the housing may be added after the main magnet parts have been assembled with the speaker and magnetized. The main magnet may be surrounded by a synthetic resin to present a smooth, cylindrical surface to the housing 7. Both magnets are preferably of ceramic material, the main magnet at least being anisotropic.
