Abstract
749,480. Machines with permanent magnets. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Oct. 19, 1954 [Oct. 20, 1953], No. 28914/53. Class 35. An alternator rotor has radially polarized permanent magnet core 11 which is surrounded and carried by a sleeve 12 of magnetic material which has means for co-operating with supporting bearings. In. order to prevent demagnetization of the magnet 11 during a short-circuit, copper bands 15 are arranged to surround the magnet 11 about its polarized part. Sleeve 12 is screwed on to end-plates formed integrally with stub axles for the rotor which may be turbine driven on an aircraft.
