Abstract

763,094. Machines with permanent magnets. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON 'CO., Ltd. Feb. 7, 1955 [Feb. 9, 1954], No. 3804/54. Class 35. A magneto rotor comprises anisotropic permanent magnets 1 mounted on an annulus 5 of magnetic material, the magnets being held in position by cast-on non-magnetic material 6. The core 5 has flat parts 3 and a shoulder 7 against which the magnets 1 are located within a die preferably spring loaded after which molten aluminium or alloy is introduced to the die so as to fill the gaps between the magnets. After the material 6 has been allowed to cool and set, the composite rotor unit is removed from the die.
