Abstract
743,634. Casting-processes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 14, 1953 [Dec. 17, 1952], No. 34760/53.. Class 83 (1). In a method of casting anisotropic permanent magnets from an iron-base alloy containing Ni, Al and Co in which, during solidification, the magnet body between the two pole - faces is surrounded by a chemically exothermic material 3 and preferably at least one of the pole-faces is cooled, as by an iron base 1, the exothermic material contains an ignition winding 4 which is heated by electrical means, e.g. by high-frequency induction, to ignite the material before the molten alloy is supplied to the mould 5.
