Abstract
644,165. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., CLACK, B. N., and HARRIS, N. L. March 4, 1948, No. 6830. [Class 39 (i)] Plasma oscillations of centimeter wavelengtl are generated in a box 1 forming a resonant cavity and filled with argon at low pressure (e.g. 12 mms.). The box 1 is coupled througl glass windows 2 to wave - guides 13 for transmission. To pro duce the required dis charge, 300 to 400 volts D.C. are applied to electrodes 10, 4, the latter electrode being fitted to a resilient wall 3 to afford adjustment in the manner described in Specification 585,168, [Group XXIV]. The electrode 10 is sealed through a glass dome 9 and has a glass sheath 12. A metal cone 6 surrounds the electrode 10.
