Abstract

538,614. Electron oscillators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and GIBSON, W. T. Feb. 7, 1940, No. 2361. [Class 39 (i)] In velocity modulated electron oscillators such as described in Specification 537,490 the resonator and electrodes are contained within a glass envelope, the resonator 3 being sealed in an opening of the envelope by a conical extension 4 at a place remote from the support points for the electrodes. In one form, the cathode 1 and anode 2, Fig. 1, are carried by leads from the pinch 6; in another form separate glass seals 15, Fig. 2, are provided for these leads. The resonator is formed of two co-axial tubes 7, 8 with end closure plates 13, guiding slots 9 for the electrons being provided.
